Grant Kennedy
Canandaigua: Grant Murray Kennedy, age 54, passed away unexpectedly at his home, on Thursday, September 11, 2014. He is survived by three children, Grant Michael, Richard Scott and Alexis Susanne Kennedy; mother, Susanne Gardner Kennedy; father, Bruce M. (Anne) Kennedy; sister, Rebecca Brown; 2 nieces, Hadley and Channing Brown; and his children’s mother, Leslie Farnham.
Grant was born in Canandaigua, attended Canandaigua schools and was a graduate of Canandaigua Academy. He earned a bachelor’s of science degree in Business Administration from Ashland University in Ohio. Grant was a graduate of the Cincinnati School of Mortuary Science. He was a licensed Funeral Director and owned and operated Kennedy & Son Funeral Home, Inc. from 1986 to 2008, in Canandaigua and Bloomfield. Grant was a member of the Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team, Region II (DMORT) and responded to the Katrina disaster in New Orleans and the flight 800 aviation accident in New York. He was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, First United Methodist Church, Canandaigua Rotary Club, Masonic Lodge #256, Merrill Hose Volunteer Fire Co., Canandaigua Chamber of Commerce, Canandaigua Yacht Club, Ontario-Wayne-Yates County Funeral Directors Association and the New York State Funeral Directors Association. Grant was a former camper and counselor at Camp Pathfinder in Algonquin Park, Canada. He enjoyed skiing, boating, fishing, cooking, woodworking and spending time with his family.
There will be no calling hours. His Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 100 N. Main St., Canandaigua. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canandaigua. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 7, East Syracuse, NY 13057 or the Ontario County Humane Society, 2976 Co. Rd. 48, Canandaigua, NY 14424. Arrangements are by Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., Canandaigua.
